Ever since Mixcrate went down, I've not had the time to move all my mixes to a place where people can both stream online and download my mixes. I'm trying to be more diligent and bring them all back online and ready for download.
Lately, I've been experimenting with video and making use of my photography lighting and equipment to build a library of promos for the mixes. I've always been interested in video production. I took ONE class and kind of abandoned that initiative. Video is such a powerful tool for music and communicating the overall feeling and tone of a piece. It works through senses; adding visuals to things you hear, assist in the comprehension and retention of these mixes. And?...do they even make music videos anymore? Back in high school (which was A LONG, LONG TIME AGO), I used to look forward to going home and watching BET. Video Soul. Donnie Simpson. Damn, that show aired about 36 years ago. Thirty-six! Son of a........bitch I'm old.
Anyway. Slow jams are my thing, ya'll. Still, to this day, when I drive home from a gig, I listen to slow jams. Early mornings traveling down LA freeways and extremely tired, I still listen to them. In fact, I sing along. I have a personal, private concert. And I sound amazing (that was a joke btw)!
Come Back II ME came about as the follow-up to ESCAPADE - Janet Jackson Tribute, a mix I did with my best friend, DJ Remark. You can read the 'Behind The Mix' post HERE. That mix was a carefully curated collection of Janet Jackson's (fast) songs. I am truly proud of that mix.
Long story short, the download for Come Back II ME is now available!
